Managing Director, Africa and Latin America, CDC Group
Roderick Evison is the Managing Director for Africa and Latin America with CDC Group Plc, the UK Government’s fund-of-funds for the emerging markets. In 2004 CDC ceased making direct investments when it spun out Actis and Aureos, which became independently owned and managed private equity fund managers. Mr. Evison has responsibility for CDC’s funds portfolio in Africa, and over the past five years CDC has committed in excess of [$1.5bn to 27 African private equity funds].
Mr. Evison joined CDC (then called the Commonwealth Development Corporation) in 1992. His career has included: the restructuring of CDC from a direct investor to a fund-of-funds in 2004; the establishment of Globeleq, CDC’s power company for emerging markets, in 2002; and direct investing, primarily in the power sector. Mr. Evison has an MA (economics) from Cambridge University.
