Latin America Data Insight (Q4 2016)

Continuing the decline from a peak in 2014, fundraising in Latin America reached only US$4.3 billion in 2016, the region’s lowest annual total since 2009. Despite concerns regarding currency volatility in Mexico, slow economic recovery in Brazil and uncertainty in the region’s relations with the United States, a strong fourth quarter brought total capital invested in Latin America in 2016 to US$4.2 billion, up 49% from 2015.
