India Data Insight (Q4 2016)
Posted On: 06 Mar 2017
Fund managers raised US$3.7 billion for India and deployed US$6.5 billion in 2016. While these headline totals represent declines of 21% and 12%, respectively, from 2015, they remained comfortably ahead of the totals for the three years prior. Heightened activity in the market over the last two years has coincided with a shift in the composition of the private capital landscape. Three strategies–venture capital, control investments and private credit—have gained prominence, adding diversity to a market historically dominated by growth equity.
