Both fundraising and investment in Emerging Asia declined 21%, year-on-year, in the first half of 2016. While the relative lack of large funds in the market accounted for the drop-off in capital raised for the region, the slowdown in capital invested primarily resulted from sluggish deal flow in the venture capital (VC) and growth-stage market segments in China and India.
