Posted On: 18 Aug 2017
Private capital fund managers, encompassing private equity, infrastructure and private credit, invested US$22 billion in disclosed deals in emerging markets in the first six months of 2017, the highest half-year total since EMPEA began reporting on investment in 2008, according to EMPEA’s latest Industry Statistics. An uptick in large transactions in Emerging Asia drove much of the increase in disclosed capital invested in 1H 2017.
Fundraising for emerging markets-focused private capital funds also rebounded in the first half of 2017 to US$23 billion, up from US$18 billion in 1H 2016. International limited partners have put more capital to work in Emerging Asia in recent years. In the first half of the year, global private investment firm KKR closed KKR Asian Fund III with US$9.3 billion in commitments, the largest EM-focused fund recorded by EMPEA
