Executive Vice-President, Emerging Markets,Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ)
Rashad Kaldany serves on EMPEA’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Kaldany is in charge of implementing Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s strategy to capitalize on the growth in emerging markets. This strategy is designed to enable la Caisse to increase its exposure to these countries, establish local partnerships to benefit from comparative advantages and act on business opportunities for Québec companies.
Mr. Kaldany sits on la Caisse’s Executive Committee and Investment-Risk Committee.
Mr. Kaldany pursued most of his career at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the financial arm of the World Bank Group. Before joining la Caisse, he was Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. In that role, he oversaw all IFC’s investment and advisory activities. In his previous work at IFC, Mr. Kaldany managed teams and invested in Asia, North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America, in the financial, infrastructure, energy, mining and chemicals sectors.
Rashad Kaldany holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Columbia University and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University.
Mr. Kaldany is co-chair of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Infrastructure 2014-2016. He was previously a member of the Global Agenda Council on Emerging Multinationals.
