 Chris Bruneau
Executive Director, 57 Stars

Mr. Bruneau is responsible for the firm’s office in São Paulo, Brazil. Prior to joining 57 Stars, Mr. Bruneau was a Director at the J.E. Robert Company where he was responsible for originating, underwriting, negotiating and closing real estate investments in Latin America. Mr. Bruneau joined JER Partners in 2006 from East-West Financial Services, Ltd., a financial advisory boutique that arranges financing for hospitality and real estate projects in Latin America. Prior to joining East-West, Mr. Bruneau was an attorney at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP and previously at Wilmer Cutler & Pickering LLP. In both firms, he provided legal advice to a broad range of institutional clients.

Mr. Bruneau holds a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, an M.A. in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. in Comparative Government from Georgetown University. Mr. Bruneau lived in Brazil for six years. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and conversant in French.

 

Roberta Brzezinski
Senior Director, Growth Markets, Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec

Roberta Brzezinski is Senior Director, Growth Markets for CDPQ, a Canadian pension fund manager investing across asset classes in global markets. Prior to joining CDPQ, Roberta served as chief investment officer of TAU Investment Management, a growth equity fund manager focusing on Asian manufacturing investments. Roberta was one of the original partners of Abris Capital Partners, a leading growth buyout investor in Central and Eastern Europe. She also served as managing director at Emerging Markets Partnership, manager of the $6 billion AIG Infrastructure Funds, where she was active in Southeast Asia, Central Europe and Latin America. Prior to joining EMP, Roberta was vice-president at NCH Capital, a leading fund manager focused on Eastern Europe, and began her career as an investment officer for the International Finance Corporation. Roberta holds an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and an AB magna cum laude from Harvard College. 

 

 Denis Tse
Research Committee Chair, Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCA)

Denis Tse is currently Research Committee Chair at the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.  He has 15 years of private equity direct and fund investment experience in Asia, having worked with J.H. Whitney, CDIB Capital, and HSBC Private Equity (Asia), where he became the first Kauffman Fellow from an Asian venture firm.  Denis is one of Chief Investment Officer “2014 Forty Under Forty”, and was named one of “Asia’ 25 most influential people in private equity” by Asian Investor in 2013.  A Hong Kong native, Denis has an MBA from INSEAD and a BSc (Hon.) from Northwestern University.

Maryam Haque
Senior Director, Research, EMPEA

Maryam Haque is the Senior Director of Research at EMPEA, where she leads the research and data programs, overseeing ongoing data collection, analysis, and dissemination to provide insight on private equity trends in emerging markets. Maryam is a frequent contributor to industry research and global media outlets and co-authored the publication "Women at the Wheel: Do Female Executives Drive Start-up Success?”, which examined the impact female senior executives have had on the venture capital industry.

Prior to joining EMPEA, Maryam worked as a Senior Research Analyst in the Private Equity and Venture Capital division of Dow Jones and Company, where she tracked, analyzed, and published data on fundraising, investments, exits, valuations, and fund performance for the PE/VC industries.

Maryam holds a Bachelor of Science in Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. As a visiting student at St. Louis University’s campus in Madrid, Maryam completed a semester of coursework in international relations, international business, and European Studies.
