CEO, African Capital Alliance (ACA)

Okey Enelamah is one of the co-founders and CEO of African Capital Alliance (ACA), a leading African private equity firm investing in West Africa. Formed in 1997, ACA has raised over $1 billion in aggregate capital commitments since inception. Okey was one of the original principals of Zephyr Capital and South Africa Capital Growth Fund (the predecessor to Brait). Previously, he worked at Goldman Sachs in New York and London, as well as Arthur Andersen in Nigeria.

Okey earned an MBA with high distinction (is a Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School. In addition, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst and also qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Nigeria. He serves on the boards of a number of companies, including Cornerstone Insurance Plc, eTranzact Ltd, UAC of Nigeria Plc, Flavours Food Limited and Landmark Property Development Company. He is a member of the boards of the African Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, Emerging Markets Private Equity Association, Africa Leadership Initiative West Africa, and is a Fellow of the Aspen Institute.

 

Ayisi Makatiani
Managing Partner and CEO, Fanisi Capital Ltd.

Mr. Ayisi Makatiani is an investor, entrepreneur, founder and heads Fanisi Capital, which manages a USD50M portfolio of high growth enterprises across East Africa. Mr. Makatiani serves on the boards of Haltons, the leading pharmacy retail chain in Eastern Africa, Hillcrest International Schools, the leading set of British Curriculum Schools in Kenya, Sophar, a leading pharmacy wholesale and distribution business in Rwanda, Live Ad, a billboard advertising company, Turnkey Africa, the leading provider of enterprise software solutions for the insurance sector across Africa, East Africa Venture Capital Association and Barclays Life Assurance Company.


Previously he sat on the Board of Kenya Airways and was founding chairman of JamboJet, the leading low cost carrier. He was also a board member at Barclays Bank of Kenya, founder and CEO of Africa Online Inc., Chairman at Ogilvy & Mather (East Africa) and vice Chairman of second largest Kenyan university Kenyatta University. Mr. Makatiani, who received the highest civilian presidential award, Order of the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS), for services rendered to the republic, was also previously head of the African Management Services Company (AMSCO), founded by the International Finance Corporation – the World Bank’s private-sector arm. He was educated at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)-Boston, MA, USA and Alliance High School, Kikuyu,

 

Fred Murimi
Director, Private Equity, Centum Investment Company Ltd.

Fred holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Business Administration (MBA-Finance) degree from United States International University - Africa. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Public Secretary. He has 12 years work experience, 10 of which have been in the capital markets industry.


 

 

 

Kevin Njiraini
Regional Lead, Sub-Saharan Africa, Private Equity Funds, International Finance Corporation (IFC)

Kevin Njiraini, who holds an MBA, is a Principal Investment Officer and Regional Lead for Private Equity & Investment Funds in Sub Saharan Africa at the International Finance Corporation (IFC). In 2009 Kevin set up IFC’s first Private Equity office in Africa (Nairobi). He previously worked with IFC’s Global Financial Markets department where he worked on transactions in Africa, Asia and Central America. Prior to joining IFC Kevin was the general manager of an investment bank.

 

 

 

Rory Ord
Principal, RisCura

Rory heads RisCura's private equity advisory division, which provides independent valuation, modelling and related services to investors in unlisted investments in Africa. His clients include private equity funds, infrastructure investors and investment groups across the continent. Rory is also a leading commentator on African private equity, and publishes the annual Bright Africa report as well as the quarterly RisCura SAVCA Southern Africa Private Equity Performance Report. Rory is a chartered accountant and is based in Cape Town.
