Douglas Clayton is the Founder and CEO of Leopard Capital, a pioneer investor in emerging frontiers. Leopard Capital manages Leopard Cambodia Fund, Leopard Haiti Fund, and Leopard Asia Frontier Fund, and is creating additional private equity funds for other frontier markets. Doug has lived and invested in developing countries in Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean for nearly three decades. Prior to founding Leopard Capital in 2007, he held senior executive positions at CLSA, Credit Agricole Indosuez WI Carr, and Abacus Equity Partners.
Doug’s achievements in building Leopard Capital have been profiled in The New York Times, FT, AVCJ and other publications, and written up as a business school case study by Stanford University. Doug is a frequent guest on CNBC, BBC, and Bloomberg TV, and addresses numerous investment conferences and business schools’ private equity clubs. In addition to overseeing Leopard Capital’s investment activities and business expansion, Doug is a founding director of Kingdom Breweries and trustee of the nonprofit Center for Khmer Studies. He holds a MM from Thailand's Chulalongkorn University and a BA in history from Cornell University.
