Benjamin Aller joined SJ Berwin in Paris in 2001 and became partner the following year. He is the managing partner of SJ Berwin’s Middle East practice and resides permanently in Dubai.
Ben has more than seventeen years’ experience advising on private funds and related transactions. He has acted on the formation of a wide range of vehicles including venture capital funds, buyout funds, mezzanine funds, hedge funds, private equity real estate funds, infrastructure funds and funds of funds. He has advised on more than one hundred fund of fund investments and routinely acts for buyers or sellers in secondary transactions involving fund investments.
Ben also has extensive experience advising fund managers on financial regulatory matters and the structuring of carried interest incentive schemes. Ben’s experience covers funds investing around the world, including Europe, North America, the Middle East, India, East Asia, Africa and Latin America. He is equally at ease advising on limited partnerships and corporate fund vehicles.
Ben is recognised as an expert in private funds in the latest editions of Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, IFLR’s Guide to the World’s Leading Private Equity Lawyers and the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. He serves as an officer of the Private Funds Subcommittee of the Investment Funds Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). He has represented France as member of the Tax and Legal Committee of the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA) and he is active in the legal task force of the MENA Private Equity Association.
